INCI Name: Polyquaternium-10

CAS Number: 68610-92-4

Description

Polyquaternium-10 is a cationic conditioning polymer derived from natural cellulose. It is compatible with common surfactants and works across hair care, skin care, bath and shower products.

In shampoos and conditioners it improves detangling and gives a soft feel to wet and dry hair, without build-up. It also forms clear, non-tacky films and allows clear surfactant-based formulations.

Key Properties

  • Cellulose-derived cationic polymer
  • Improves wet and dry combing
  • Substantive to hair and skin without build-up
  • Allows clear formulations
  • Compatible with common surfactants

Formulation Guide

Formulation Tips

  • Disperse Sensomer 10M polymer in cold water
(<30°C) at maximum 10% solution, with agitation.
Begin heating to 30-40°C and continue mixing until
solubilized, as indicated by a clear solution.
  • Sensomer 10M polymer is compatible with most
    common anionic and amphoteric surfactants,
    which affords greater formulating flexibility.
  • In a surfactant system, it is preferable to complex
the polymer with betaine or an amphoteric
    surfactant.
