Premium grade · Made in Europe

Description

Azeco is a premium-grade azelaic acid powder manufactured in Europe. It is a high-purity, cosmetic-grade dicarboxylic acid, the same molecule that occurs naturally in grains such as wheat and barley.

Not all azelaic acid is the same. Many low-cost powders sold online come from unbranded sources with little traceability. Azeco gives you a consistent, European-made material from a named source, so you can formulate with confidence from batch to batch.

In skin care, azelaic acid is valued for refining skin texture, helping skin look clearer and visibly evening out tone. It is a common choice for products aimed at blemish-prone, uneven or redness-prone skin.

Formulation Guide

Typical use level: 5–10%. Higher strengths are associated with licensed medicines.

Solubility: Poorly soluble in water at room temperature (about 0.2%). Slightly soluble in glycols, and more soluble when heated or partly neutralised.

Option 1 – Suspension (most common)

  • Thicken the water phase first with a suspending agent such as xanthan gum, a carbomer or an acrylate thickener.
  • Sprinkle in the powder with good stirring, then homogenise to break up any clumps.
  • Azeco's fine particle size (98% under 50 µm) helps give a smooth, non-gritty texture.

Option 2 – Dissolved system

  • Pre-dissolve the powder in warm glycols such as propanediol or pentylene glycol, then add to the water phase.
  • Or partly neutralise with a base to form a more soluble azelate salt, keeping the final pH in range.
  • Check samples at low temperatures, as dissolved azelaic acid can recrystallise on cooling.

pH: Aim for a final pH of 4.5–5.5. Adjust slowly, as the acid lowers the pH of your base.

Pairs well with: Niacinamide (keep pH around 5–5.5), soothing ingredients such as panthenol and allantoin, and humectants such as glycerin.

Handling: Wear gloves and avoid breathing in the dust. Safety data sheet available on request.
