Description

Span™ 60 Pharma is a pharmaceutical-grade sorbitan stearate (sorbitan monostearate), a non-ionic, low-HLB emulsifier with an HLB of 4.7. Used on its own, it forms water-in-oil (W/O) emulsions. Paired with a high-HLB partner such as polysorbate 60, it gives stable oil-in-water (O/W) creams and lotions, and you can adjust the ratio of the two to match the HLB your oil phase needs.

It meets Ph. Eur. and USP-NF standards, has a low odour and pale colour, and is mild on the skin, which makes it a dependable choice for dermatological and sensitive-skin bases as well as everyday cosmetics.

How to Use

• Typical use level 0.5–5%
• Melt into the oil phase at around 70–75°C
• For O/W emulsions, combine with polysorbate 60 and adjust the ratio to reach your required HLB
• Pair with liquid Span 20 (HLB 8.6) to fine-tune your blend
